Accessy Styra connects doors, garage doors and gates to Accessy using relays – no existing access control system and no software on site needed. This article is for customers, installation partners and Accessy sales. For installation and day-to-day use, see the Accessy Styra – Hardware Installation Guide and the Accessy Styra – Portal Guide.

About Accessy Styra

Accessy Styra is a family of pre-configured hardware. It comes in three standard sizes, plus Styra Custom for larger or irregular sites, so capacity can be matched to anything from a single entrance to a building with many control points.

Every unit is built around a Teltonika router running a pre-installed Accessy client. The client makes a secure, outbound-only connection to Accessy, so nothing on site needs to accept incoming connections. It then drives the relays – built into the router on Styra 1, or on a Control by Web relay controller on Styra 4 and Styra 16. Each relay appears as a device in the Accessy Portal and, once an asset is created for it, is opened from the Accessy app or portal like any other door.

Each unit ships pre-configured for the subscription it was ordered for. On site, the installer mounts it, connects power (and Ethernet on Styra 4 and 16) and wires the door. The unit then connects to Accessy by itself.

Choose your model

All models share the same security and user experience. They differ in the number of relays, the connection and the controllers used.

Styra 1

  • Relays: 1

  • Connection: 4G (no backup connection)

  • Router: Teltonika TRB141

  • Relay controller: built into the router

  • Typical use: a single door, gate or garage door

Styra 4

  • Relays: 4

  • Connection: Ethernet, with 4G backup (SIM fitted)

  • Router: Teltonika RUT241

  • Relay controller: Control by Web WebRelay-Quad

  • Typical use: a few doors at one site

Styra 4 – Teltonika RUT241 and Control by Web WebRelay-Quad

Styra 16

  • Relays: 16

  • Connection: Ethernet, with 4G backup (SIM fitted)

  • Router: Teltonika RUT241

  • Relay controller: Control by Web X-432

  • Typical use: many doors at one site

Styra 16 – Teltonika RUT241 and Control by Web X-432

Styra Custom

  • Relays: sized to the site

  • Connection: Ethernet, with 4G backup (SIM fitted)

  • Router: Teltonika RUT241 and a switch, for example a Teltonika TSW110

  • Relay controller: any mix of WebRelay-Quad and X-432

  • Typical use: large or irregular sites, or sites expected to grow

In Styra Custom, one RUT241 router connects to a switch, and any combination of WebRelay-Quad and X-432 controllers connects to that switch. The installation partner agrees the combination with Accessy for each site, so the system scales from a handful of relays to hundreds of doors.

Security and monitoring

All traffic between the router and Accessy is encrypted (MQTT over TLS), and every unit authenticates with its own identity. The SIM card fitted in every unit keeps it reachable for monitoring and support, whether its main connection is Ethernet or 4G. Accessy monitors each unit and installs security updates throughout its life.

Units are monitored and managed in the Styra portal, which is separate from the Accessy Portal. Open it from the Accessy Portal under Settings › Integrations › Portals. The portal shows:

  • whether each router is connected, and which software version it runs

  • how long a router has been disconnected – useful when deciding whether a site visit is needed

  • each relay's name and pulse time, which you can change

Installation

Installation is the same for every model. The only site-specific part is the door actuator itself, such as an electric strike, garage door opener or gate motor.

  • Power: Accessy recommends a UPS so the system stays up during power cuts.

  • Network: Styra 4 and 16 need a wired Ethernet connection. Send Accessy Styra – Network Requirements to the site's network or IT contact when the order is placed.

  • Mobile coverage: check the signal where the unit will be mounted. Styra 1 depends on it completely.

  • Exit button: every model can also take a local exit button, which opens the door without the Accessy app.

Wiring, including each model's relay terminals, is described step by step in the Accessy Styra – Hardware Installation Guide.

Ordering and commissioning

  1. The customer creates the subscription the unit will belong to.

  2. The customer invites the installation partner and grants them the Assets, Delegation and Devices roles.

  3. The partner logs in at portal.accessy.se, selects the subscription, goes to Settings › Integrations and clicks Order hardware. For a new installation, the order creates the integration at the same time.

  4. The unit arrives pre-configured for the subscription. Install it, connect power (and Ethernet where needed), and check that the status LED shows steady green.

  5. Name and activate the relays in the Styra portal, create an asset for each, and open each door from the Accessy app to confirm it works. Accessy grants access to the doors once the configuration is complete.

Accessory: A-tags

A-tags are NFC tags that let users open doors with the Accessy app without unlocking and navigating their phone. Tags are delivered blank and programmed in the app by a user with the Delegation role.

When mounting a tag:

  • keep it at least 30 cm from card readers and other powered devices, which can disturb NFC reading

  • avoid the door leaf itself, which may be replaced over time

  • keep it at least 25 cm from the door handle, so that larger phones can reach it comfortably
